The Parent Teacher Association (PTA) at JAIS is very strong and is a rewarding way to become involved with the school.
The Parent Teacher Association (PTA) is a group of diverse, energetic parents looking to build the JAIS community and support activities inside and outside your child’s classroom. Every parent is a part of the PTA, so all are welcome to attend meetings and participate in events throughout the year! Coming to a meeting does not obligate commitment, but it is a great way to meet other parents and community members. Meetings are typically held the second Friday of every month. The PTA at JAIS is very strong and is another great way to become involved with the school. The PTA hosts many fun events throughout the year. One of our favorite events of the year is the PTA International Day event, which celebrates diversity in the JAIS community.
The PTA is a voluntary parent and teacher organization, which provides assistance, and support in a number of areas, including class liaisons and library assistance. Beyond this the PTA seeks to improve communications between parents, teachers, and staff, and to find means by which parents may be more involved in the education of their children. Teachers are encouraged to join with the PTA and participate in its activities and meetings. The PTA also serves as a parent consulting and advisory group for the administration and meets throughout the year with the head of school and other staff to cultivate awareness of mutual concern and a concerted approach to problems.
Class Liaison
The Class Liaison serves as an important link between the teacher and the parents of the class. The Class Liaison is a parent that the teacher can count on to help with communicating to the other parents about needs and events in the class. This is a great way to connect with your child’s class, the teacher, and the other parents. Class Liaison tasks throughout the year can include but are not limited to:
- Help coordinate parent assistance for your child’s teacher on special projects
- Help coordinate field trip chaperones
- Promote class unity among parents and families
