JAIS Integrated Arts program ( Art, Music, Drama)

At JAIS we believe that there is much fluidity in learning that can span over many “separate subjects'' . We encourage project learning that sees the links and connections in creating ideas and enhancing skills.

At JAIS we are pioneering a new program of combined Arts.  Each student will have 3 periods a week from K to Grade 6 where they will be able to tap into all their creative expressions in Art, Music, and Drama.  An example of one such integrated project is using a book studied in language arts, writing a script for the book in language arts, and then in Integrated Arts lessons adapting the script into a puppet show.  This would include song writing, background music creating, designing and building puppets, making the puppet theater, designing and painting the scenery, and then performing!

Other topics or projects would home in on knowledge of  genres of music or Art and learning about the historical context.  Other topics would lend themselves to learning and practicing specific skills.  Such as using different textures or medium or exploring different percussion instruments in Music. Other projects would focus on a finished product / presentation, display or dramatic performance.
