Program Overview

The music program at JAIS provides its students with a rich aesthetic education. An integrated curriculum of singing, movement and listening activities teaches basic musical concepts and skills, and provides the students with the tools for critical analysis as well as music appreciation. In addition to general music skills, all students begin their instrumental education on Orff and rhythm instruments and the recorder, while additional private lessons are offered for all band and orchestral instruments.   All fifth grade students learn to play beginning band instruments.  Band instruction continues into middle and high school.

Our school Winter Festival provides all students with the opportunity to perform in front of family and friends. This production is produced in conjunction with the Art program, giving students a hands-on familiarity with all aspects of theatrical performance.

At JAIS we believe in growth through music and encourage the students to develop creative forms of self-expression in a fun and educational environment.
