Physical Education is an essential part of a total educational program that seeks to provide each individual with the opportunity to achieve his or her own potential. The physical education program is designed to provide experiences which develop a life-long positive attitude toward physical activities important in a well-balanced individual.
Two important goals of our program are skill-related and health and fitness-related activities. Both of these become conduits for this type of learning to take place. Skill-related development includes age-appropriate development in sport activities that derives from applying ideas from the psycho-motor, affective and social construct domains. Health and fitness related activities include lessons that are interdisciplinary in nature and assist the student tin understanding how to use their bodies for activity.
Other goals of our program are appreciation and enjoyment of sport and exercise, as well as social, emotional and intellectual growth. We emphasize teamwork, sportsmanship and cooperation.
Swimming is also an integral part of our physical education program. Certified swimming instructors who are staff members of the Israel Goldstein Youth Village Pool teach swimming.
Adapted physical education services and evaluations are also available, as needed.
